Senior Associate, Solicitor, Litigator

Career

Caroline is an experienced solictor and member of our legal services team.

She has particular expertise in the defence and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Caroline also deals with non-contentious IP matters, including advising on IP assignments, licensing, and collaborations, as well as GDPR and other general contractual matters.
Caroline has acted in major UK trade mark infringement cases including representing the Discovery Channel in the dispute with the History Channel in relation to the launch of the ‘Discovery History’ channel. She also represented Victoria’s Secret in the Court of Appeal in relation to its PINK brand dispute with Thomas Pink. From 2016, Caroline provided in-house legal advice to UKRI-Innovate UK on commercial and dispute resolution matters.

Caroline joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2018.

Education

Caroline has a degree in biology from the Kings College London, a PhD in applied biochemistry from the University of Liverpool and undertook four years of postdoctoral research in neurobiology and epigenetics at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research has resulted in high profile publications in Nature and Cell.

Caroline obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of the West of England and then joined a leading UK law firm in 2011 where she trained and qualified into their nationally recognised litigation and IP team
