Philip is widely recognized as a leading aviation, shipping and asset finance lawyers in Russia, with extensive experience advising leading international and Russian leasing companies, banks, airlines, helicopter and shipping companies on complex aircraft and shipping finance and leasing transactions. Philip acts for a number of leading international leasing companies in Russia and has assisted major domestic leasing companies with starting-up their international asset finance operations. Philip also assists airlines and lessors on a wide variety of commercial contracts with manufacturers, suppliers and service providers and advises on acquisition, financing and operation of private jets, helicopters and yachts.

The group is also advising lender Sberbank on a loan facility for financing the construction of a multi-functional business centre. Karen Young is the main practitioner, and Philip Lamzin specialises in asset finance in the aviation and shipping sectors.

  • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.
