Position

Lex Oosterling has experience with a broad range of financing transaction and the restructuring thereof. He is regularly involved in advising national and international banks and financial institutions on a wide range of financial transactions in both domestic and cross-border work. This includes advising clients on all aspects of the structuring, documentation, negotiation and implementation of leveraged, structured and project finance transactions as well as the restructuring of such transactions. He heads the Finance & Projects practice in the Netherlands.

DLA Piper’s team has experience in acquisition financings, especially for private equity clients. Group head Lex Oosterling led advice to Ploeger Oxbo Group and NPM on the financing of the investment by NPM Capital in the Ploeger Oxbo Group. He also assisted Capital Square partners with its financing from a bank consortium to acquire the Aegis Group. Gerard Kneppers and Max Mayer are other names to note.

  • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.
