Capital markets Tier 3

The department at DLA Piper is noted for its ‘good service and expertise’ and has particular experience in euro medium term note (EMTN) programme issuances. Mikko Ojala heads the practice, while senior counsel Salla Tuominen is recommended for her work on ECM matters.

Commercial, corporate and M&A Tier 3

Ilkka Liljeroos heads up the 'well-prepared' practice at DLA Piper, which is 'quick to react and provides sound and thoughtful advice'. The team recently acted for Croda on its €24m acquisition of IonPhasE. Country managing partner Matti Ylä-Mononen is also recommended and has significant experience in mid-market transactions.

Employment Tier 3

Antti Rajamäki, a recent arrival from EMPLaw Attorneys, leads the group at DLA Piper, which provides employment advice to a client roster including Uber and K-Retailers' Association. Riikka Autio, who was recently promoted to counsel, is also a key name to note.

EU and competition Tier 3

In a recent highlight, DLA Piper represented Sponsor Capital in merger control proceedings following its acquistion of a majority stake in Myllyn Paras; state pension fund Valtion Eläkerahasto is another key client. Practice head Mika Oinonen joined from Lexia Attorneys Ltd in 2018 following Mikko Huimala's departure to Hannes Snellman.

Intellectual property Tier 3

DLA Piper counts Solteq, Verifone Finland and Samlink as key clients and recently advised Lehtipiste on post-transactional trade mark issues. The practice is jointly headed by John-Henrik Spåre and Markus Oksanen; senior counsel Timo Ruikka is also a name to note.

Real estate and construction Tier 3

DLA Piper's client roster includes Senate Properties and Corum Asset Management; the team acted for the latter in four separate real estate transactions. The Evangelical Church of Finland and Collector Bank are also examples. Antti Niemi leads the group.

TMT Tier 3

Markus Oksanen heads up the group at DLA Piper, which recently assisted Thirdpresence, Verifone Finland and InfoCare with GDPR compliance and data protection matters. Senior counsel Timo Ruikka is also a key name to note, and Sami Rintala joined from Lexia Attorneys Ltd in 2019.

Dispute resolution Tier 4

DLA Piper's 'hands-on' team defended the former director of Nokian Tyres in a trade secrets case. The practice, which has 'a good mix of fresh and senior competences', is headed by Jussi Savonen, who is particularly experienced in insolvency litigation.
