András Nemescsói – DLA Piper

DLA Piper‘s first-rate reputation is underpinned by its team’s breadth of expertise across the full range of finance transactions. Its transactional work ranges in scope from sovereign export credit facilities to bond and restructuring deals. The practice has also steadily grown its share of trade finance and corporate finance work, and has also increased its market exposure in the debt capital markets arena. Key lawyers in the sizeable team include practice head Péter Györfi-Tóth and Gábor Borbély, who maintains a strong reputation in high-value development and export finance mandates, real estate acquisition finance transactions and restructuring. Counsel Attila Sári advises on acquisition finance, general corporate lending and project finance, while senior associate Barbara Császár mainly advises in cross-border finance matters, as well as real estate financing transactions. The capital markets practice is jointly led by András Nemescsói and Gábor Molnár, who works with Budapest Stock Exchange and the Hungarian regulator on reform proposals aimed at streamlining the Hungarian capital markets transactional legal framework.

Hungary > Dispute resolution

DLA Piper‘s ‘excellent courtroom lawyers’ possess ‘exceptional knowledge of civil procedure’. Highly regarded for its commercial arbitration practice, the group is increasing its visibility in construction, pharmaceutical and investment treaty arbitration cases. Elsewhere, the firm has a market-leading gambling disputes practice. Its highly accomplished practice comprises of András Nemescsói and Dávid Kőhegyi, designated arbitrators on the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators as Hungary’s appointees. Head of disputes and ‘prominent litigator’ Viktor Radics represented a major gambling company in four sets of litigations against the Hungarian Gambling Authority, challenging the monopoly of the Hungarian state owned operator, Szerencsejáték Zrt. in online sports betting on a EU law basis.

Hungary > Competition

DLA Piper‘s competition law practice is a core part of the work undertaken by the litigation and regulatory group, which is led by András Nemescsói. It provides full service support to clients on their most complex and strategically-significant issues. Areas of expertise include merger control, behavioural investigations, state aid matters and competition compliance advice. Nemescsói works with senior associate Péter Virág, a Hungarian and EU competition law specialist who has expertise in cartel cases and antitrust proceedings, merger clearance, unfair commercial practices and state aid matters. Clients hailing from the TMT, energy and consumer goods sectors are particularly well-represented. In early 2022, the practice recruited  Gábor Fejes and Zoltán Marosi from Oppenheim Ugyvedi Iroda, to lead its growing competition practice.
