Mr Germán Vargas
Mr. Vargas works in the tax area of DLA Piper Chile. Ha has broad experience in the analysis, interpretation and practicing of tax regulations. He has advised local and multinational companies and individuals in tax planning, M&A transactions, international taxation and audit procedures. From 2008 to June 2015 worked as advisor in the staff of the Director of the Chilean Tax Agency and at the Large Taxpayers Division. He had an active role in the analysis, research and preparation of Circulars, Rulings and Resolutions issued by the National Direction of the agency and in the audits undertook by the Large Taxpayers Division. During 2015 to 2018 worked as tax attorney in the tax area at CMS Carey & Allende Abogados (Santiago).
From 2015 is professor of Tax Law in the School of Law at Universidad del Desarrollo.

The three-member team at DLA Piper Chile assists with the implementation of tax strategies for diverse investment projects, and advises companies and individuals on the daily development of their businesses; it also assists with the resolution of tax-related conflicts, and provides tax support during M&A transactions and project financings. Additionally of note, the group advises on the tax side to infrastructure and digital services matters. Experienced in advising on a broad spectrum of tax matters, Rodrigo Álvarez leads the tax group, which includes key senior associate German Vargas. Since publication, the team has been further strengthened with the addition of Amory Heine, formerly of Rojas & Cía, in November 2021; she handles corporate and individual tax planning, and transactional and business structuring, along with audits and litigation before the IRS and tax courts.
