Position

Jan Willem leads Dentons’ dedicated telecoms group UKMEA. He has over 15 years experience in advising clients up and down the communications value chain on commercial matters and transactions, as well as strategic, policy and regulatory matters.

Career

Jan Willem previously worked at Standard Chartered Bank, UK communications regulator Ofcom, the European Commission and the Institute for Information Law.

Education

Jan Willem holds two masters degrees ‚Äď one in Dutch law from Amsterdam University (1993) and another in international and comparative law from Brussels University (1995). He wrote his first masters thesis at the London School of Economics & Political Science (1993) and holds a diploma in English law from the College of Law Guildford (1997).

The 'excellent' technology and telecoms practice at Dentons is highlighted for its 'refreshing approach' and 'consistent, high quality and timely advice'. Practice head Andy Lucas is leading a team advising Transport for London on the procurement of emergency a services 4G LTE mobile communications programme. Jan Willem van den Bos heads up the telecoms team and is acting for Circle Media Labs on the launch of its pioneering internet access control platform to Sky customers. In another work highlight, the practice is advising SkyKick in a trademark dispute with Sky. Martin Fanning attracts praise for his 'hands-on approach' and 'commercial mindset' in IT matters. The group is also instructed by new clients Tesla, LG and Raytheon.
