Dentons is experienced the film and TV, advertising marketing, e-sports, music, publishing and gaming, social media and interactive content sectors and is regularly instructed by global media clients on corporate and financing transactions, which utilise the firm’s global network of offices. Corporate partner Darren Acres has a focus on media sector transactions and advised ole! Media Management on its acquisition of the UK-headquartered rights management group Compact Media from Lyceum Capital; advised MTG on the sale of its African production and broadcasting business to Kwese Free TV; and also advised MTG on  the acquisition of US games publisher and developer Kongregate Inc. from GameStop Corp. Lee Federman advised NYX Gaming Group on its £210m super senior revolving credit and term, unitranche and accordion facilities refinancing facilities with Ares Capital. Dan Burge acted for Tribune Media Services on a procurement bid process and contractual terms for the provision of editorialisation of metadata services to the BBC. Edinburgh-based Brian Moore advised agency Troika on its merger with media management and professional services agency the James Grant Group (JGG). Acres heads the team with TMT head Andy Lucas after the departure of former media and entertainment team head Ingrid Silver to Reed Smith LLP. Jeremy Cohen is the firm’s CEO for the UK and Middle East and regularly advises media and entertainment sector clients; Anna Copeman handles IP work; and Joseph Altendorff handles M&A and corporate finance work in the sector. In addition to being embedded in the Scottish and wider UK market, the combined entity has a notable international reach as well. A significant proportion of the firm‚Äôs work has a cross-border component; in 2017,¬†Brian Moore, director Donald Smith¬†and others were part of a team which assisted Aberdeen Asset Management with its ¬£11bn merger with Standard Life . Moore and Smith were also among the advisers to QUIZ Plc on its ¬£200m AIM IPO. Other key figures include Derek McCombe¬†and senior associate Kimberley Goh, (she is ‚Äėvery good at taking the lead and coordinating all aspects of a transaction‚Äė) who advised US-headquartered group Kaiam Corporation on the sale of Kaiam Laser Limited to II-VI Incorporated. The firm also handled mandates for Highland Distillers, Argenta and Johnson Controls.
