Position

Chris Watkinson is a Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity partner, based in Budapest and Prague. In his practice, Chris focuses on cross-border M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions and joint ventures, having significant experience in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Energy/Renewable sectors. He also brings a wealth of experience in CEE/CIS, advising on major cross-border deals and providing English Law advice to clients based in the region.

Career

Before joining Dentons in 2016, Chris Watkinson cooperated with the Czech law firm BBH heading the firm’s English law desk (2014 – 2016). He started his legal career with Squire Patton Boggs as a trainee (2001 -2003) and Associate/Senior Associate (2003 – 2014).

Dentons' five-partner team, jointly led by Tomáš Bílek and counsel Jan Procházka, regularly handles cross-border mandates in the private equity, life sciences, TMT, e-commerce and automotive sectors; it further boosted its expertise in the energy sector by hiring Petr Zákoucký and two associates from Clifford Chance in 2017. Procházka and Chris Watkinson assisted Rockaway Capital with establishing a joint venture with Energetický a průmyslový holding and PPF Group, and the related transfer of the relevant e-commerce businesses operated by Rockaway Group via share deals to the future joint venture company Sully System. Other highlights include advising Argus Capital on the sale of Czech cable TV operator Rio Media to Kaprain Industrial and acting for Indoverse (Czech) Coal Investments on an auction process concerning the potential acquisition of three lignite power plants.
