Position

Jiří Tomola is Partner, Co-head of Banking and finance and Head of Restructuring and insolvency practices in Dentons Prague office.

He has almost 20 years of experience in advising major Czech and international financial institutions, PE funds and corporations on cross-border and domestic transactions, including acquisition, structured, projects, export and mezzanine financing.

He also has acted as lead counsel in high-end restructuring and insolvency matters and related litigations in the Czech Republic and CEE.

Career

Before joining Dentons in 2014, Jiří worked as Associate (2003 – 2009), Local Partner (2009 – 2013) and Partner (2013 – 2014) in the Prague office of White & Case. He also worked in the Banking Section of the London office of White & Case (2007 and 2008).

Singled out for its solid real estate finance expertise, Dentons' broad practice also advises on major acquisition and leveraged finance, project finance, and export finance transactions, as well as regulatory matters. It also advised Česká spořitelna and Československá obchodní banka on the syndicated financing of the acquisition of a 70% stake in AutoCont group by KKCG and acted for UniCredit Bank on the refinancing of a number of real estate portfolios of CTP, a leading commercial real estate developer and manager operating in Central Europe.

Dentons' recent caseload saw Ladislav Štorek successfully representing Bainbridge Czech Republic Ústí nad Labem in arbitration proceedings against Tesco concerning a lease agreement; Petr Zákoucký acting for Sev.en in litigation relating to the reimbursement of gift tax from the Czech state that was imposed on free carbon dioxide emission allowances in breach of EU law; and criminal law specialist Ladislav Smejkal handling construction and employment disputes. Jiří Tomola is recommended for banking and finance disputes and insolvency matters.
