Position

Simon is a partner and dual qualified real estate lawyer within the Real Estate practice. He is based in the Glasgow office, though a very frequent presence in our London office. Simon has a long record in the successful co-ordination and delivery of complex real estate and development transactions across the UK, and has been rated by the Legal 500 and Chambers law directories as a key individual in England and Scotland.

He has been active for clients in the investment, development, retail, industrial, office, residential, operational and mixed use sectors. He has acted for investors and developers, banks, other funders, institutions, major retailers, industrials, regeneration companies, cinema operators and developers, house builders, pensions funds, oil processors, printers, port operators, wind farm operators and developers, fish farm operators and developers, chemical plant operators and other end users. In the last 10 years he has been directly involved with over £3 billion of shopping center and general investment work in Scotland, England and Wales.

Trained W & J Burness WS 1985-87; qualified 1987; qualified in England and Wales 2004. Assistant Bird Semple Fyfe Ireland WS, Glasgow 1987-90; founder member Semple Fraser WS 1990; partner 1992-2013; managing partner 2012-13; partner Maclay, Murray & Spens 2013 to 2017.
