Compliance and Regulatory

Position

Andrew leads Dentons’ Middle East compliance and regulatory investigations practice and also the Dubai commercial disputes and arbitration practice.

On the dispute resolution side, Andrew and his team represent clients in significant cases in the DIFC Courts, DIFC-LCIA and ICC arbitrations, among others, with a particular focus on high value, cross-border, complex disputes. Having also served as Dentons’ own general counsel for 13 years, Andrew understands what drives his clients and the strategic purposes litigation serves (rather than focusing on litigation for its own sake). As a result, his team bring a uniquely strategic and results driven focus to dispute resolution, with a deep pool of experience and talent in the Middle East.

On the compliance and investigations side, Andrew and his team assist clients across a diverse range of industries, sectors and countries (from financial services to manufacturing, hospitality, property, energy, chemicals, technology and transport in Europe, UK, Asia, Canada, South America, Africa, US and, of course, the Middle East) conducting large scale, cross-border regulatory investigations and risk-based compliance programmes. Andrew’s team have unparalleled geographic reach through Dentons (the largest firm in the world) and the Next Law Referral Network (also the largest of its kind), which means they can rapidly initiate investigations globally benefiting to the greatest extent possible from legal professional privilege protections. Andrew is also committed to developing and deploying innovative technology on compliance programmes and investigations. These solutions range from whistle-blowing hotlines, to compliance portals and training platforms to cutting edge enterprise risk management systems.
