Litigation and Arbitration
Julio Parrilla is the head of the R&I practice and co-head of the Litigation group at Dentons Madrid.
Julio has over 20 years of experience advising national and international corporations and financial institutions on a wide variety of judicial proceedings. He regularly handles disputes on corporate matters (like those arising from mergers and acquisitions and shareholder agreements, and directors’ liability claims). He also has extensive experience in disputes related to the real estate sector (e.g. construction and development agreements).
He focuses on bankruptcy law, and has extensive experience in voluntary and mandatory insolvencies. He has built up a wealth of first-hand knowledge of the phases of the Spanish insolvency proceeding, by acting as counsel for insolvent companies and creditors and participating (both as attendee and as lecturer) in some of the most prestigious round tables and seminars on bankruptcy in Europe.
Julio advises Private Equity funds, opportunistic funds and other players in the Spanish distressed debt market. In particular, he has a vast experience in NPL portfolio trades (covering both the legal underwriting of the portfolio and its subsequent workout). His ability as litigator and his insight of the insolvency proceeding make him a second-to-none advisor in complex scenarios arising from distressed debt investments.
Dentons Spain Litigation practice is recommended by the international directory Legal 500 as one of the leading practices in Spain.
