Risteard de Paor is a Partner and leads the International Disputes practice in the firm’s Madrid office. He is common and civil law-qualified and his practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation and public international law. Prior to joining Dentons, he worked in the International Arbitration practice of White & Case LLP in Paris for a number of years.

He has a wide range of disputes experience in the energy, environmental, construction and aviation sectors. He has worked on international commercial (including construction and joint venture) and investment arbitrations in Europe and Latin America under the main arbitration rules, including ICC, LCIA and ICSID and has experience of environment-related collective actions in Africa.

He has specialist knowledge of climate change law and was one of two lawyers nominated by ICC Ireland as a member of the ICC Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change Related Disputes. He has published and spoken on environment-related disputes in peer-reviewed journals and at various international conferences. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish and has acted in proceedings under each language.
