Russia > Banking and finance: Borrower side
Dentons’ banking practice has benefited from the recruitment of cross-border finance specialist Tamer Amara, who joined from Clifford Chance in July 2018. The team is led by the dual-qualified Timothy Stubbs, who counts European Investment Bank, VTB Capital and Rosgosstrakh as clients. Evgenia Laurson advises on project finance and pre-export facilities, while Andrej Strijak and counsel Dennis Montgomery are experienced in acquisition and export finance. Highlights included advising Eurochem on a $750m five-year unsecured club financing with a group of banks, including mandated lead arrangers BNP Paribas Bank and Citibank (London branch), and assisting Raven Russia with a $65m secured loan facility for the refinancing of a warehouse complex near Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.
Russia > Banking and finance: Lender or arranger side
Dentons‘ ‘market-leading’ practice continues to be at the forefront of financing transactions across Russia and the CIS regions owing to its expertise in finance regulation, project financings and acquisition and export finance. Following the firm’s merger with Chinese firm, Dacheng, the Moscow practice is also uniquely positioned to handle various cross-border Chinese-CIS deals. Notable highlights include acting for UniCredit Bank on the financing of Nordgold group under a $75m facility agreement. Regulatory expert Timothy Stubbs advised The Central Bank of Russia on the drafting and development of consumer rights protection standards concerning the self-regulatory organisations of microfinance institutions. Other key figures include Evgenia Laurson and Andrei Strijak.
