Alexei is Dentons’ Russia Managing Partner. He focuses on M&A, joint ventures, corporate finance and leveraged acquisitions. He also has considerable experience in private equity transactions, port/terminal transactions and bank equity deals.

Widely recognised as one of the largest teams in the Russian market, Dentons provides the full range of corporate and M&A advice across a variety of sectors, including the pharmaceuticals and healthcare, retail, financial services, and energy and natural resources industries. The group has been involved in multiple significant cross-border investment transactions; managing partner Alexei Zakharko regularly leads the work and acts for clients including VTB Asset Management. The group is also prominent in the private equity arena, where it advises a number of private equity houses; UK-qualified Richard Cowie and Christopher Rose, who splits time between Moscow and Dubai, are the key contacts in this space. Konstantin Kroll took over as practice head in early 2021 from Mathieu Fabre-Magnan, who is the global co-head of the firm’s retail group. Transactional specialist Alexei Zakharko leads the shipping practice, which advises shipowners and charterers, shipyards and cruise-lines, traders in commodities and service companies, operators of pipe-lines and other off-shore facilities, and freight-forwarders and logistics operators. Alexander Skoblo heads up the automotive group, and assists with corporate and commercial mandates, financing issues and joint ventures. Andrei Strijak takes the lead on aviation work, focusing particularly on aircraft financing and leasing matters. At Dentons, practice head Alexei Zakharko and Konstantin Kroll  have significant transactional expertise, regularly assisting notable domestic and international clients with high-value M&A deals, as well as a diversity of projects in the energy sector. Financial institutions, media companies and state players frequently instruct corporate specialist Maria Oleinik, who has particular experience of the oil and gas industry. Edward Borovikov is a key name for global trade and investment issues, and Louis Skyner is noted for his advice to E&P companies on their participation in upstream and downstream projects in Russia and the CIS.
