At Dentons, practice head Alexei Zakharko and Konstantin Kroll have significant transactional expertise, regularly assisting notable domestic and international clients with high-value M&A deals, as well as a diversity of projects in the energy sector. Financial institutions, media companies and state players frequently instruct corporate specialist Maria Oleinik, who has particular experience of the oil and gas industry. Edward Borovikov is a key name for global trade and investment issues, and Louis Skyner is noted for his advice to E&P companies on their participation in upstream and downstream projects in Russia and the CIS.
Dentons relies upon its strength across the CIS region to handle complex cross-border issues relating to the enforcement of arbitral awards and parallel proceedings in Russia; Richard Cowie and dual-qualified Konstantin Kroll are key contacts for multi-jurisdictional matters. The team regularly acts for clients in commercial arbitration initiated in relation to breaches of contracts and corporate disputes. St. Petersburg-based Mikhail Ivanov heads up the national department, while Roman Zaitsev leads the team in Moscow.
Widely recognised as one of the largest teams in the Russian market, Dentons provides the full range of corporate and M&A advice across a variety of sectors, including the pharmaceuticals and healthcare, retail, financial services, and energy and natural resources industries. The group has been involved in multiple significant cross-border investment transactions; managing partner Alexei Zakharko regularly leads the work and acts for clients including VTB Asset Management. The group is also prominent in the private equity arena, where it advises a number of private equity houses; UK-qualified Richard Cowie and Christopher Rose, who splits time between Moscow and Dubai, are the key contacts in this space. Konstantin Kroll took over as practice head in early 2021 from Mathieu Fabre-Magnan, who is the global co-head of the firm’s retail group. Clients also recommend life sciences practice head Sergey Klimenko and Vladimir Sokov.
