Position
Dr. Christian Schefold, LL.M., is a Partner in the Berlin office of Dentons, a member of the Corporate practice and co-heading the German Compliance practice. He focuses on compliance, corporate and data protection law. Christian headed the compliance consultation department at Daimler AG where he was co-responsible for setting up a compliance network within the Daimler group worldwide. Prior to this task, he worked several years as senior counsel with Daimler Financial Services AG being responsible inter alia for IP, IT & DP law, international commercial law, financing, M&A and public private partnerships (namely for the legal set-up of the German motorway tolling system Toll Collect). He is constantly practicing data protection law since 1996.
Christian’s favorites are setting up compliance management systems (CMS), especially Data Protection CMS as well as Data Transfer Regimes for international corporations to fulfill GDPR requirements.

Dentons ‘ compliance team impresses with cross-border capacities and frequent cross-practice cooperation. The team advises companies across various sectors, including the fashion and defence industries. A core focus is on compliance management systems, where the practice is experienced in current ESG and supply chain due diligence matters, as well as traditional topics such as data protection, money laundering and tax law. The team is jointly led by Christian Schefold (data protection, money laundering and fraud prevention) and Judith Aron (co-head of the European compliance practice) and also includes Peter Braun (implementation of CMS for international financial institutions), Gabriele Haas (corporate governance) and the antitrust experts Josef Hainz and René Grafunder.
