Position
Cornélie Arnouts is a partner in the Real Estate practice group. She advises and litigates primarily on disputes related to real estate, property law, and law of obligations including purchasing and tenancy. She assists developers, investors and financial institutions in cases involving acquisitions or forced auctions of commercial properties. Cornélie has also experience in civil litigation which covers all aspects of sale, purchase and lease conflicts, such as defects, rent review, renovation, rights of first refusal and termination issues.
As the leader of the Professional Liability team in Amsterdam, she is knowledgeable in professional liability and disciplinary law of professionals, particularly civil-law notaries, estate agents, surveyors, liquidators and lawyers. Since 2015, Cornélie has been a Dutch board member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) where she is responsible for the professional ethics and integrity standards for Young RICS. She is also an advisor to the Amsterdam board of estate agents (Makelaarsvereniging Amsterdam, MVA), part of the national Estate Agents’ Association (Nederlandse Vereniging van Makelaars en Taxateurs in onroerende goederen, NVM).
She gives regular lectures on the topics of real estate and professional liability. She currently teaches at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate, the Nyenrode Business University, the Academy of Real Estate (Academie voor Vastgoed), the MVA Academy (MVA Academie), Lexlumen and the Association for Civil Notaries (Stichting tot Bevordering der Notariële Wetenschap). She also frequently publishes in commercial and legal magazines

Cornélie is a Dutch member of RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and member of various other organisations including the Association of Young Real Estate Lawyers (Vereniging Jonge Onroerend Goed Juristen), Fresh Alumni, The Association of Tenancy Law Lawyers (Vereniging van huurrecht advocaten), DWIRE, Young Urban Land Institute and the European Lawyers Association.
Education
University of Maastricht, Law Degree 2002. Cornélie Arnouts graduated cum laude from the specialist Real Estate programme at Nijmegen’s Grotius Academy and took part in the European Lawyers Programme in Edinburgh, where she qualified as a solicitor. In November 2013, Cornélie completed a post graduate real estate master (MRE).
