DWF’s international claims and travel group is regularly instructed by insurers on cross-border catastrophic injury claims. It defended ERGO Versicherung on a fatal motor accident which occurred in Germany and is defending Pelayo Mutua de Seguros on a serious personal injury claim in the UK courts following a road traffic accident in Spain. Generali, Van Ameyde (UK), Mitsui, Amlin, Hastings Direct, QBE, RSA and Travelers are also clients. Head of international claims Claire Bowler regularly advises global insurers on catastrophic injuries and high-profile claims. European group head Sara-Jane Eaton is ‘totally committed and fantastic with clients’ and focuses on catastrophic injury claims. Graham Dickinson handles product liability claims and advises on plane and helicopter crashes. Recently promoted partner Rhys Sanchez and Steven King are also key figures.

'Premier league firm' DWF's 'young and diverse team' forms a 'dynamic and go-getting personal injury practice' which 'goes from strength to strength with a portfolio of big insurer clients'. It is especially recommended for its expertise in motor traffic claims, while also handling fatality, occupational disease, catastrophic brain, spinal, orthopaedic and loss-of-limb injury, cross-border travel, public sector and abuse cases. Other areas of expertise include organised, credit hire or casualty fraud, as well as late claims. The 'effective' practice lead, 'rigorous thinker' and 'major starCharles Ashmore, acted for Aviva in a long-running claim concerning a road traffic accident in which the defendant driver died and the claimant allegedly sustained severe leg injuries, which were proven during the trial to be far less serious than had been claimed; the claimant was found guilty of multiple contempts. Another highlight was Sara-Jane Eaton's representation of German insurer ERGO Versicherung in a claim involving the death of a cyclist who was hit by a car, which was driven by a resident of Germany. Other key individuals include associate Simon Frith, 'technically superb' partner Tanja Neuhoff, crime solicitor Tim Ingram and head of international claims Claire Bowler.
