Position

Director – Insurance

Career

I have acted for most UK based insurers, defending their corporate and public sector clients in employers’, public, road traffic and product liability cases, and in health and safety and criminal prosecutions.

I have represented the majority of local authorities in Central Scotland throughout my practice and well known for my expertise in credit hire claims.

I speak on the topic regularly, and have been invited to sit on a large insurer’s UK wide panel of credit hire experts as a consequence.

I have also developed extensive knowledge in the retail sector, as sole nominated panel solicitor in Scotland for one of the largest supermarkets in the UK for over 5 years.

DWF is singled out by clients and peers for its well-established counter-fraud offering, which is a key feature in its personal injury practice. Jointly managed by Jill Sinclair and Andrew Lothian, who has a focus on defending insurers, the group is well-placed to handle an assortment of high-value defence-side insurance litigation, often cross-border for a host of clients including Aviva and RSA. Director Lynne Macfarlane is recommended for employers and public liability cases. Justine Reilly deals primarily with fraudulent motor claims. Elsewhere, senior associate Julia McDonald has now left the firm.
