Position

Neil is the team leader and supervising partner for DAC Beachcroft’s clinical risk team in Newcastle, and a CNST Nominated Partner for the NHS LA. He has over 20 years’ experience of defending clinical negligence claims on behalf of a range of healthcare bodies, including the NHS LA since its inception in 1995, the Medical Defence Union, Spire, BUPA, NHS Trusts and med mal insurers such as Allied World. Neil leads the Newcastle office’s relationship with Nuffield Health and the MDU. Although he deals with all medical specialisms, Neil has particular expertise in defending multi-million pound catastrophic injury and brain damage claims, including advising on periodical payments, indexation and indemnities. Neil has extensive experience of advising and lecturing on claims and healthcare law topics such as notifications, preliminary analysis, risk management issues, documentation, complaints, consent to treatment, confidentiality, withdrawal of treatment, fatal accidents and all areas of quantum.
