Position

Julian is a partner specialising in insurance and reinsurance and professional risk. His work covers both technical coverage issues and non-contentious work. He is advising in some of the largest disputes in the market. In relation to insurance, Julian advises on a wide variety of coverage issues and casualty claims. He is handling Bermuda form coverage work and successfully defended the main defendant in Brown v Innovator One plc [2012] EWCH 1321. He has experience of claims arising from tax relief schemes, pensions disputes, aggregation issues, the World Trade Centre issues, professional liability and financial institutions. He was identified as a super lawyer for insurance law 2013 and listed in Chambers Global 2014 leaders (Insurance, contentious claims). In the reinsurance arena, Julian works with both the life and non-life market for clients in the UK and overseas. He is regularly consulted on draft wordings, and in relation to inspections, commutations, portfolio transfers (under Part 7 of FSMA 2000) and schemes of arrangement (under the Companies Act 2006). Julian is a member of the Reinsurance Committee of the Insurance Institute of London.
