Position

Frances has specialised exclusively in Employment and Discrimination Law since qualifying in 2005. Working with HR professionals, in-house lawyers, directors and managers from organisations of all sizes in the private, public and third sectors, as well as with individuals, she seeks practical solutions tailored to the client’s situation, organisation and desired outcome. She advises both employers and employees on all areas of Employment Law including unfair dismissal, TUPE, redundancy and senior exits, but has specialised particularly in equal pay and discrimination, having advised 17 local authorities on their defence of thousands of equal pay claims arising from historical bonus payments. Frances has recently represented public and private sector organisations in relation to claims of sex, age, race, disability and religion or belief discrimination under the Employment, Education and Associations provisions of the Equality Act 2010. Unusually, Frances is experienced in managing the defence of multiple claims and the best strategies when handling mass litigation. She was recently selected as one of 50 international candidates to undertake an intensive 3 month programme which was designed to identify and prepare the next generation of global women leaders for board directorship and was run in partnership between the University of California, Los Angeles and Banco Santander at the Anderson Business School, LA.

Clyde & Co LLP has carved out a 'strong' practice defending clients, most notably from the public sector, against various claims brought before the Employment Tribunal; its contentious work typically concerns whistleblowing, discrimination, equal pay and unfair dismissal claims alongside mass holiday and equal pay litigation. The 'excellent' Stephen Miller heads the team, which includes 'very efficient' discrimination law expert Frances Ross.
