Position

Gemma is a leading healthcare lawyer, a solicitor advocate and Assistant Coroner for West London. She specialises in hearings, inquests, inquiries and investigations across the medical and social care sectors. She represents a wide range of clients at inquests including NHS Trusts, care homes, private companies and those supplying medical services in prison and police custody. She has notable expertise in complex medical deaths heard by a jury and cases where Article 2 ECHR is engaged. Gemma also advises and provides representation in the High Court and Court of Protection in relation to capacity, best interests, serious medical treatment and deprivation of liberty. Gemma advises in relation to healthcare regulatory hearings (having previously worked at the General Medical Council). She also advises where there is criminal investigation in relation to corporate or gross negligence manslaughter, perverting the course of justice, or a Health & Safety Executive investigation. As a Coroner she has conducted inquests into deaths involving construction companies, road traffic incidents, missing persons and drug interactions, including with a jury.
