Claire is Head of the Global Healthcare practice at Clyde & Co  and a long-established NHS LA Nominated Partner. Claire advises on a range of claims against medical professionals, with particular expertise in brain injury claims, obstetric claims and those of maximum severity or complexity. Claire provides representation at inquests, representing clinicians before their regulatory body, medical device/product liability work and general advisory work. She has successfully defended many matters at trial, including several multimillion-pound claims. Claire represented the Trust in the leading Court of Appeal case of Medway PCT v Marcus.


Claire has been involved in a number of drug trial cases including the high profile case at Northwick Park Hospital. She also has a keen interest in the growing area of Disability Discrimination Act claims in the healthcare setting where she holds a 100% success rate of rebutting these claims.


In addition, Claire contributes regularly to both internal and external publications, speaks at conferences and regularly trains medical practitioners on healthcare issues. Claire has undertaken a number of secondments to the NHS LA including in TCU and has spoken at the last two NHS LA panel conferences. She has a keen interest in risk management and regularly provides bespoke training to clients to help them learn from their mistakes and minimise the chance of future incidents. She is Secretary of the Patient Safety Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and is the Deputy of FOIL's clinical negligence focus group.
