Position

Ivan is a Legal Director in the Professional and Financial Disputes team and has extensive experience of handling professional liability claims against solicitors (particularly regarding corporate finance transactions and pensions advice), surveyors, accountants and financial institutions.

Ivan also frequently advises financial institutions on claims arising from wholesale activities, such as derivatives trading, and on the strategic management of retail claims.

Ivan has significant experience of large-scale commercial litigation and multi-jurisdictional claims, including those with pensions and insolvency angles.

Ivan has frequently contributed to legal and financial publications including Finance Week, Butterworths Journal of Banking and Financial Law, Bankers’ Law, PLC, the Commercial Litigation Journal, Euroweek, the Solicitors' Journal and Complinet, and speaks regularly on litigation topics.

Experiences:

  • Advised in relation to numerous professional indemnity claims against large law firms, typically involving complex corporate transactions or pensions advice.
  • Also advised in relation to claims against surveyors and valuers, including a £100m Commercial Court claim against a leading international firm.
  • Advised a large financial institution on its strategy to address a prominent class of misselling claims, including judicial review of regulatory body, and multi-million pound compensation claims against various other financial services providers.
