Work Department

Partner. Criminal defence/fraud.

Peter is a partner in the criminal department who offers clients a complete service from arrest to trial, acting as litigator and advocate in Magistrates and Crown Courts. He was recommended by Chambers UK 2018 as a rising star in the criminal defence world and is described as “very client-orientated and nothing is too much trouble. He is very hard working and dedicated, and prepares cases to within an inch of their lives." The 2019 Chambers UK guide describes him as “an extremely hard working lawyer”.

Peter regularly advises clients in relation to police interviews and prepares representations to the CPS that a client should not be charged at all. Peter was recently commended by a professional client following a successful outcome - “I have dealt with a number of lawyers in a professional capacity and they could all learn a huge amount from Peter’s pragmatic, energised approach”.

Peter represents clients on matters ranging from serious sexual allegations to motoring offences. His caseload has included homicide and other violent crimes, dishonesty, money laundering and drug offences. He often defends regulated professionals including financiers, teachers, doctors and lawyers and their families accused of sexual offences, assaults, public order offences, harassment, road traffic violations and fare evasion. Another professional client recently commented: “attentiveness and responsiveness, as well as technical knowledge are vital in building and maintaining a specialist legal practice: you have displayed them all in abundance.” He is a key team member in many high profile and sensitive cases

Peter trained as a lawyer after a stint working for a cross-border payments company in the City of London. After completing his legal education Peter trained as a solicitor at a busy criminal practice in north London. He qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and joined Hickman & Rose in February 2015, becoming a partner in 2018. Peter has been a committee member of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors Association since 2016 and the secretary since 2018.
