Peru > Dispute resolution

Rodríguez Angobaldo Abogados combined its experience of acting for insurance and banking clients, recently, undertaking a constitutional case against the Peruvian Congress’ approval of Law No. 31143 on behalf of insurer Pacífico Compañía de Seguros y Reaseguros and financial institution Banco Pichincha. The 30-strong disputes team covers a broad array of contentious work, including civil, commercial, constitutional and regulatory/administrative cases, but the insurance/financial sector axis is a particular sweet spot: insurer Rímac Seguros y Reaseguros is a regular client, while on the banking side the team has advised Scotiabank and Banco de Crédito del Perú on hundreds of litigation cases, regarding breach-of-contract and damages claims, among other matters. Additionally, the team has seen an uptick in work for healthcare clients. Practice head Fernando Rodriguez Angobaldo, who focuses on conflict resolution strategies, is flanked by practice co-heads Jaime Heredia, who leads the arbitration practice; and litigator Adolfo Pinillos, who recently represented Telefónica del Perú in arbitral proceedings against the Peruvian Secretary of Telecommunications. Key associate support is provided by senior Marco Torres Maldonado and intermediate Claudia Garcia Bustamante. However, former partner Úrsula Caro left the firm in February 2022 to focus on acting as an independent arbitrator.
