For more than a decade, he has been working as a litigator before state and federal courts in Brazil, in several complex disputes and leading cases involving regulatory compliance, unfair competition and patents, most of them pursuing the interests of clients in the area of life sciences. He also has extensive practice in trademark litigation as well as technology transfer contracts, working together with multinational clients to establish strong brand protection and licensing programs in the country.

Mr. Hallak currently teaches IP litigation in the Post-Graduation course at the prestigious Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and is enrolled in the Masters of Law on Civil Procedure at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Combining expertise in IP, regulations and healthcare, Licks Attorneys brings together a group of specialised lawyers, pharmacists, chemists and scientists, which is well placed to assist domestic and international clients in a variety of life sciences matters. The department boasts an impressive track record in contentious matters, and is led by four practitioners: founding partner Otto Licks, who is particularly active in strategic litigation and policymaking matters involving small molecules, biologics, agrichemicals and medical devices; fellow founder Eduardo Hallak, a name to note for complex disputes and patents; Liliane Roriz, who utilises her former experience as an appellate judge to assist with IP-related cases; and Roberto Rodrigues, another expert in patent litigation.
