EY Law Central America‘s ‘dynamic‘ team is well versed in regional corporate matters, including M&A, joint ventures and reorganisations, regularly acting alongside the global firm’s other offices in Central America. As the legal arm of the Big Four consultancy, the corporate practice is also able to draw on colleagues’ expertise in tax and insurance matters. Clients include large multinational and domestic companies from the consumer products, financial services, pharmaceutical, hospitality and telecoms sectors, among others. Following the departures of former practice heads Enrique Möller Sánchez to his own practice and, most recently, Ruby Asturias to Deloitte Legal Guatemala in July 2021, the practice is led by Costa Rica-based Hernán Pacheco, supported by ‘dedicated‘ managers Mirla Tubac and Ignacio Castillo.

The team advises on the labour aspects of M&A and other transactions, compliance with labour regulations, health and safety matters, and collective negotiations. The full-service firm has also developed an internal initiative, "Crezcamos juntos", which offers advice on labour issues to its other departments. Costa Rica-based Hernán Pacheco is well versed in advising on the labour implications of corporate transactions. As part of the legal arm of the Big Four consultancy, EY Law Central America has particular strength in contentious tax cases, but also handles criminal, administrative and commercial litigation for a broad range of regional clients. Following the departure of former practice head Enrique Möller Sánchez and Ruby Asturias to different firms, the team is now led by senior manager Fernando Rosales Gramajo, who specialises in tax litigation.
