Louise is the current Managing Partner of the firm and also heads the Crown Court Department. She specialises in all areas of crime and regulatory law. Preparation of serious crown court cases, especially historical sexual offences. Regularly instructed by trade unions and professional bodies to represent members in criminal investigations, disciplinary proceedings and inquests.

Burton Copeland LLP handles the full spectrum of criminal law, from serious and organised crime through to regulator work and road traffic matters. The practice is instructed by police federations, claims management companies who act on behalf of insurance companies and members of the National Fostering Association. Practice head Louise Straw is recognised for her work on sexual abuse and historical sexual assault cases. Co-head Gwyn Lewis, chairman of the Manchester Law Society Crown and Magistrates Committee, focuses on road traffic cases. Daniel Weed completes the leadership trio and has developed a practice representing police officers. The experienced Michael Mackey  is now a consultant to the firm.
