Dr. Javier Tamayo is the firm´s consultant for all its practice areas.
However, he has an extensive experience in dispute resolution matters before the ordinary and administrative jurisdiction. Also before arbitration courts, including the preparation and opposition of appeals for annulment of arbitral awards.
He has assisted the firm´s clients in class action law suits brought to court in matters related with: land and air transportation accidents, collapse or ruin of constructions of all kinds, environmental pollution, earthquakes, explosions, floods, fires, defective products, etc.
During the last few years he has successfully represented companies sued for the Bogotá's river contamination and for the construction of hydroelectric projects. Also, he is currently representing victims in several class actions brought due to the ruin of several buildings in the city of Medellín.
Dr. Javier Tamayo Jaramillo has been appointed on several occasions to render expert opinions on Colombian law before foreign courts. In fact, his expert´s opinions have been considered by courts in different countries to resolve litigation proceedings abroad regarding Colombian private law.

Lawyer, graduated from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Colombia) and specialist in Economics and Insurance Law from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). Professor in civil and medical liability at multiple universities in Colombia. Professor in residence (invited) in foreign universities such as Université Paris 2 – Panthéon – ASSAS for the academic periods 1989 – 1990 and 1999 – 2000. Former Magistrate of the Civil Chamber of the Honorable Supreme Court of Justice. Author of numerous articles and legal books, including the following: “Tratado de Responsabilidad Civil” (Compendium of Civil Liability), “El Contrato de Transporte” (The transportation contract), “La Responsabilidad Civil en las acciones populares y de grupo” (Damage Law and class actions), “La Decisión Judicial” (The judicial decision) and “La prueba de la culpa médica” (Medical neglect´s evidence). Currently, his new work entitled “El consentimiento informado del paciente” (The patient´s informed consent) is being printed.
In October 2011, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (both in Colombia) published a book to recognize Professor Tamayo’s law career. The book is entitled “Responsabilidad civil, derecho de seguros y filosofía del derecho: Homenaje al profesor Javier Tamayo Jaramillo” (Civil liability, insurance and philosophy of law: a tribute to the Professor Javier Tamayo Jaramillo).
