The partners and work team are young, yet widely experienced in legal counseling for both local and international clients throughout the country.
Ramirez & Cardona was founded in 2010 as Ramirez & Asociados Abogados, a boutique firm specializing in real estate and related matters, and has rapidly become one of the leading firms in real estate and urban development in the country. Despite their youth, both partners have vast and sound experience in providing legal counsel to a wide array of clients, ranging from owners and developers to construction companies, from diverse economic areas including the mining and food industries, in all sorts of real estate matters.
Areas of practice: The firm supports its clients regarding preliminary ideas and planning, from the initiation of projects through to their conclusion, and from the negotiation of contracts to the resolution of disputes. The firm’s practice is focused on three areas:
Real estate: legal studies of land titles; legal structuring of developments for housing (including affordable and luxury), commercial, office, mixed-use and tourism projects; structuring and negotiation of land acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships; matters relating to condominiums, commercial leasing and retail; management associated with the development and construction of infrastructure projects (roads, ports, etc) and the mining and energy sector. The firm also gives advice on property taxes, valuations and capital gains taxes.
Land use and development: the firm provides counseling regarding different municipal urban planning approvals (zoning plans, partial plans, rural planning units, etc); due diligence investigations in urban matters; advice and support before and during licensing processes, such as those for obtaining sub-division and building permits; legal advice on administrative procedures in municipal zoning, development and planning matters; and administrative litigation involving land use, regulatory violations, and eminent domain.
