Mrs Yolemny Cruz
Family and Immigration, Industries and Commerce, Labor, Employment and Social Security, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Yolemny Cruz joined Pellerano & Herrera in 2017 as a senior associate of our firm’s dispute resolution department. She has over 12 years of experience in legal practice, focusing on representing companies in the areas of criminal law, labour, social security, civil and commercial law.
She led discussion forums on regulatory changes in business associations and advised companies interested in opening commercial operations and acquiring tax benefits in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. During her professional career, she has handled a large number of immigration and family law matters. Yolemny has advised companies in crisis situations due to environment changes or unforeseeable situations.
Among her representative alternative resolution matters are: development of the legal strategy for the closure of 190 food franchises nationwide; together with various industrial sector associations, development of the strategy to prevent the installation of a sanitary landfill in the vicinity of pharmaceutical and food companies in the municipality of Haina, San Cristóbal Province; and, participation in several negotiations of distributor contracts for the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
In 2019 and 2020, Yolemny was recognized as a Future Star by Benchmark Litigation.
Spanish, English and French
Yolemny Cruz received her Bachelor of Laws, magna cum laude, from Universidad Iberoamericana and in 2013 completed her Masters in Civil Procedures from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). She has participated in various courses on topics related to legal strategies, civil and commercial law, family law, immigration law, labor law and social security, among others.
Pellerano & Herrera‘s dispute resolution practice remains the first port of call for plaintiffs and defendants in high-profile criminal cases – something which is reflected by its representation of former Red Sox baseball player David Ortiz in ongoing criminal and civil proceedings – and also stands out for its strength in shareholder disputes, distribution-related litigation, and administrative and tax cases. At the head of the practice, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz has a wealth of experience in litigation (with significant expertise in tax and sports-related disputes) and Lucy Objío is a key name for commercial, criminal and labour litigation. Sheila Oviedo, who was promoted to partner in April 2023, and senior associate Yolemny Cruz are also skilled in the full range of litigation.
