Banking and finance Tier 1

Key figures Oscar Samour and associate Felipe Aragón acted as local Salvadoran counsel for Credit Suisse's Cayman Island branch in granting a loan of $74m to Western Energy Inc Transport for the construction of a liquified petroleum gas carrier. The team's client base also includes the OPEC Fund for International Development and investment company Symbiotics.

The team regularly provides tailored advice on corporate structures to assist clients with doing business in El Salvador. Recent work highlights include Oscar Samour acting for Walmart throughout the whole process of opening a second megastore in El Salvador and Maria Alejandra Tulipano advising Cosapi on a number of engineering, construction, mining and real estate projects, with key support from associate Gustavo Vega. Suzanne Berrios De Tablas heads the IP department at Consortium Legal, which focuses on patents, trade marks, sanitary and pharmaceutical registrations, and copyright. The regional law firm assisted in the acquisition and transfer of a trade mark portfolio previously owned by Bayer Intellectual Property to Panamanian company Zodiac International Corporation.
