Notwithstanding the September 2020 departure of former practice co-head Francisco Blavi to join what is now Coz Jofré & Blavi Abogados, competition and disputes boutique Pellegrini & Cía. is an impressive proposition. The nine-strong team is led by name partner and practice head Julio Pellegrini, a commercial litigation and arbitration specialist who handles contractual claims, torts and class actions, and has particular expertise in construction contract litigation. Fellow partner Pedro Rencoret is highly-regarded for litigation and arbitration-related contractual claims, unfair competition and disputes with a significant economic aspect. Headline mandates include acting as co-counsel to consortium Constructora Nuevo Maipo (Hochtief and CMC Di Ravenna), in twin ICC arbitrations against Alto Maipo and AES related to the construction of the Alto Maipo Project. Other matters included representing Claro Chile in an Appeals Court petition and related Constitutional Court proceedings in relation to an administrative decision freezing spectrum concessions. Impressive senior associate Fernando Zúñiga has considerable breadth to his disputes practice and is a name to note. Boutique law firm Pellegrini & Cía. specialises in competition and antitrust, including dispute resolution. The team fields six attorneys (including three partners) who are widely respected for their experience in cases and investigations involving exclusionary practices, cartels, mergers and regulatory proceedings. It is also particularly active in the design and implementation of compliance programs for multinational and local companies. Both well-known and highly regarded figures, Julio Pellegrini is a former President of the Chilean Bar Association’s Antitrust/Competition Commission, and Pedro Rencoret is a specialist in antitrust litigation and regulated markets. Strong support at associate level is provided by Fernando Gazzella (who joined from Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr in 2019), Diego Ramos and María Jesús Cifuentes.
