Career

Expertise:
Mr. Valdivieso has focused his career in matters related to the energy industry, as both in-house and external counsel, with experience in all stages of the development of generation and transmission projects, in both their transactional and regulatory aspects. He concentrates his practice in the permitting, development, financing, acquisition and structuring of energy projects, with a wide experience in leading and conducting due diligence, drafting and negotiating EPC, PPA, O&M and other relevant agreements, and advising on regulation. He also has a strong background in corporate and commercial matters, advising both local and foreign clients in a wide array of businesses and M&A transactions.

Career:

Prior to joining Morales & Besa in 2020, Mr. Valdivieso was the General Counsel of Prime Energía, a Chilean developer and operator of generation facilities, part of US-based Glenfarne Group. He also served one term as a board member (d) of the Chilean Association of Generation Companies.

Awards and recognitions:
As General Counsel of Prime Energía, he was included in The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist (2019) which recognizes the leading and most innovative general counsel in each country.

International experience:

Foreign advisor with the Latam project finance practice of Holland Knight in Miami (2015-2016).

Academic activities:
Professor of Commercial Law at Universidad Católica de Chile Law School (2016 – to date).
