Career

Besides founding in 2005, together with colleagues, Ferro, Castro Neves, Daltro & Gomide Advogados, José Roberto is a professor of civil law at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro and was, for many years, a professor of civil law in graduate programs at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. He lectures at the Escola de Magistratura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Magistrate School) and at Fundação Getúlio Vargas, also in Rio de Janeiro, as well as in legal conferences throughout Brazil. José Roberto has published numerous books and articles on civil law and arbitration. In 2013, he was part of a commission to draft the reform of the Brazilian Arbitration Law.

José Roberto received his Master’s degree in Law from Cambridge University (1995) and both his Civil Law Doctorate (2003) and Bachelor’s degree in Law (1993) from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
