The ‘very dedicated‘ sixteen-strong insolvency and restructuring team at market stalwart Carey houses both experienced insolvency litigators and corporate lawyers, who are specialists in M&A and financial distress operations. The group’s track record includes playing lead roles during complex restructurings and financings, as well as related asset acquisitions; and its client base spans a range of industries such as insurance, mining, banking, airlines and tourism. The practice is co-led by several experienced partners, namely: Ricardo Reveco, who heads a team of insolvency litigators and ‘stands out in the national market‘; Salvador Valdés, a go-to adviser for corporate clients during high-stakes bankruptcies; Francisco Ugarte, who acts for both debtors and creditors in insolvencies; financial distress deal specialist Cristián Figueroa; and Alejandra Daroch, an expert in advising international and domestic clients on distressed M&A and debt restructuring. Full-service legal giant Carey is consistently sought out for high-stakes national and international commercial and investment arbitrations; the sizeable, 28-strong practice is particularly experienced in arbitral disputes involving the construction, energy, mining, media and pharma sectors. The department acts under a broad range of local and international institutions, including: the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CAM Santiago); the International Court of Arbitration (ICC); and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The team also has experience acting under United Nation Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) rules. The group features several experienced figures, namely: renowned arbitrator and President of the Chilean Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club since 2023, Gonzalo Fernández; national and international arbitration specialist Juan Carlos Riesco; Ricardo Reveco, who acts in commercial arbitrations concerning corporate conflicts; and commercial and investment arbitration expert Aldo Molinari.
