Juan Cristóbal Ortega advises local and international clients on a wide range of tax matters and leads the permanent tax advisory our firm provides to important market players and families. Also, has participated in the structuring of many key operations during the last years.


Mr. Ortega has been outlined as Next Generation lawyer for his tax practice in The Legal 500 as well as outlined by his peers at other international rankings. 
Juan Cristóbal Ortega was formerly a senior associate at Carey, and a foreign associate at Cleary Gottlieb.  He joined Baraona Fischer & Cía. as a partner in 2016, together with Isabel Espinoza and Alex Fischer and now is founder at Fischer y Cía (January, 2021).

Spinning out of Baraona Fischer & Cía in January 2021, Fischer y Cía retained the bulk of the former tax team, including experienced partners Alex Fischer (as tax head) and Carolina Collantes (high-profile tax matters for local and international clients), along with next generation partners Isabel Espinoza and Juan Cristóbal Ortega – but not former senior partner Juan Manuel Baraona and former senior legal counsel Francisca Villamán.
