Career

Mr. Cruz has over 23 years of experience in commercial and financial transactions, development of real estate/urban projects, as well as energy projects (including EPC and PPA contracts), mergers and acquisitions.

He specializes in initial public offers of corporations in stock exchanges, public tender offers both in Chile and in the US, antitrust, engineering, construction and procurement contracts (EPC) of electric power generation plants, transmission lines and LNG regasification terminals; power purchase agreements (PPA).

Mr. Cruz is professor of Civil Law at the Law School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Honored by Chile’s Ministry of Justice for his outstanding professional practice (2001).

Before joining Arteaga Gorziglia, he worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, New York (2006-2007) and Cariola Diez Pérez-Cotapos (2001-2005).

The firm is additionally active in regulatory and administrative proceedings before Chile’s energy authorities, and fields a go-to team for advice on electricity law regulations. The practice is jointly led by commercial, corporate and business law expert Ignacio Arteaga, who (in addition to arbitration) focuses on energy projects and related contractual matters, energy M&A, and project development and finance; and renewable energy project development and finance specialist Luciano Cruz.
