Aixa Sureda specializes in corporate law with most of her expertise focused on structuring and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, private equity deals and debt restructurings, rendering legal advice to investment banks and large corporations. Lately, she has participated in the design and the execution of highly complex transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, equity offerings, transfer of assets, start-ups, project financings, strategic alliances and joint ventures. As part of her practice, she has also provided general corporate advice, in particular concerning the structuring of contracts, reorganizations and corporate conflicts.

In addition, Aixa Sureda has extensive experience in Competition & Antitrust Law, so as in local issues (merger control and anticompetitive practices), as in cross-border transactions, having been involved in several market investigations related to different industry sectors (including credit cards, retail, maritime, oil & gas, and pvc tubing, among others). Regularly gives compliance seminars on antitrust law.

Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate, and later a partner, at Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi in General Corporate and M&A’s practice area and the Competition & Antitrust Law Department (2002-2018), leading the Anticompetitive Practices Group. She was also a foreign associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, New York, during 2005-2006.

Chambers & Partners has recognized her for several consecutive years as one of the leading lawyers in Argentina and Legal 500 guide has recommended her in her field of practice. International Law Office and Lexology distinguished Aixa Sureda with the “Client Choice Award” in General Corporate Law (Argentina) in 2018.

Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi is best known for its robust merger review practice but it also has experience in investigations and compliance matters. In 2018, the firm hired new group head Gabriel Lozano, following the departure of Aixa Sureda to Mitrani Caballero & Ruiz Moreno Abogados. Lozano, who is noted for his ‘holistic business, legal and practical knowledge’, was previously in-house at Syngenta. Corporate specialist Estanislao Olmos is also a key contact and advised Vista Oil & Gas on the acquisition of an oil operating platform controlled by Pampa Energía and Pluspetrol.

In 2018, Mitrani Caballero & Ruiz Moreno Abogados boosted its competition group through the hire of new department co-lead and ‘top-tier lawyer’ Aixa Sureda, who joined from Bruchou, Fernández Madero & LombardiSiro Astolfi (‘deep legal and commercial knowledge’) and associate Evangelina González Soldo also arrived from the same firm. Merger review cases represent the bulk of instructions and the team has recently advised Agrosuper, Echo Energy and Raízen Combustiveis on clearance issues. Cristian Mitrani co-leads the practice.
