Mr Vincent Galvin, Jr.
Product Liability, Class Action & Multidistrict Litigation, Automotive, Consumer Products
Executive Managing Partner
Vince Galvin is a nationally recognized first-chair trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience dedicated to defending high exposure product liability and mass tort litigation. He is regarded by many as one of the best product liability lawyers in the United States and was lauded as a “one of the best in the country” for automotive work by Chambers USA in 2017.
Vince is the quintessential first-chair counsel, a compelling courtroom communicator who translates technical engineering issues into persuasively coherent trial presentations. He has picked juries and tried more than 30 catastrophic injury and wrongful death trials throughout California, as well as in 11 other states across the country.
In his highest profile assignment, Vince (with partner Joel Smith) was lead counsel defending class actions and individual personal injury cases in the Toyota Motor Corporation Unintended Acceleration Marketing, Sales Practices, and Product Liability Litigation, MDL 2151. He was lead counsel in the California Coordinated Toyota Unintended Acceleration cases and lead counsel in non-coordinated cases. He was also responsible for the technical aspects of the Congressional hearings. In October 2013, Vince obtained a defense verdict for Toyota in its first bellwether “unintended acceleration” case, which The Los Angeles Times called a “landmark trial.” The verdict triggered headlines in business and legal media across the nation and abroad, including The New York Times, CNN, Fox News, Associated Press, Kyodo News, The Today Show and The National Law Journal.
In addition to his defense prowess in the automotive industry, Vince has defended manufacturers of power tools, helmets, motorcycles, off-road vehicles and other consumer products against product liability, commercial and class action claims.
Vince is a member or the American College of Trial Lawyers, Product Liability Advisory Council, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Society of Barristers.

With bench strength spread across both coasts, niche product liability firm Bowman and Brooke LLP regularly acts as lead trial counsel and national co-ordinating counsel in high-exposure and technically intricate lawsuits in multiple jurisdictions. It has developed a particular strong reputation defending leading car and motorcycle manufacturers, including Toyota, Ford Motor and Honda, and is also at the vanguard of industry developments and the subsequent litigation spawning from the increased computer decision making in vehicles, including disputes arising from airbag control technology, electronic stability control and automatic emergency braking. Vastly experienced Phoenix-based firm chairman Paul Cereghini‘s formidable courtroom skills and subject matter knowledge have ensured that he remains a popular choice for automotive defendants in their highest exposure litigation. San Jose-based Vincent Galvin, Jr. is a favorite among high-profile clients, including Toyota, which he has gained particular acclaim as a result of his work as lead counsel in the well-publicized bellwether “unintended acceleration” trial in 2013. Columbia-based Joel Smith is also recommended and continues to represent Honda against all claims relating to injuries and deaths tied to the much-publicized Takata air bag non-deployment recall. Bard Borkon and Tom Branigan co-chair the automotive practice group from Minneapolis and Detroit respectively.
