Managing Attorney – Business Litigation

Career

Alex represents companies and individuals in federal and state courts across the country at both the trial and appellate level, and in domestic and international arbitration forums.  He has multi-national corporations in complex business disputes involving international project development, partnerships, oil and gas ventures, corporate governance and shareholder’s rights, real estate development, and mass tort litigation.

Alex worked closely with Mark Lanier as an integral member of his trial team, which tried two medical device cases in 2016 that resulted in a $1 billion jury verdict and a $502 million jury verdict, as well as the Actos drug trial in 2014 that resulted in a $9 billion jury verdict.  In addition to his commercial litigation practice at The Lanier Law Firm, Alex has represented large groups of clients in national/multi-district product liability litigation and served on the Talc MDL trial committee. He currently heads the trial committee of a joint venture organized to pursue environmental litigation on behalf of the State of New Jersey.

Memberships

Alex is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100, College of the State Bar of Texas, American Association of Justice, the American Bar Association and the International Dispute Resolution Centre.  Alex is a native Houstonian who is licensed in Texas and New York. He is admitted to practice in all United States District Courts in Texas, the Southern District of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Education

Alex received a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Texas Tech University and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center where he served as an articles editor for the Houston Journal of International Law.
