Antitrust Litigation; Commercial Litigation; Securities Litigation

Sarah Gibbs Leivick’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court actions.

Sarah represents Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Lloyds TSB Bank plc in their actions alleging fraud and violations of federal and state securities laws against investment banks, indenture trustees and rating agencies. These actions arise out of MetLife and Lloyds’s purchases of more than $250 million of notes issued by National Century Financial Enterprises, Inc., which was the country’s largest purchaser of healthcare receivables, prior to filing for bankruptcy in 2002.

Recently, Sarah has experience representing clients in the hospitality and entertainment industries, including hotel managers in disputes with owners and lenders, an international hotel company defending allegations of trade secret misappropriation, and the producers of a Broadway musical and the owner of Spanish language radio stations in actions alleging breach of contract.

Sarah also has experience representing corporations and individuals in a variety of other civil litigations, including a special litigation committee charged with investigating the allegations in a shareholder derivative action, a German bank in an action arising out of the bank’s purchase of notes securitized by insurance agency franchise loans, and other clients prosecuting and defending allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, defamation and antitrust violations.

Sarah has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in the 2014-2016 editions of New York Metro Super Lawyers in the areas of Business Litigation, Securities Litigation, and Antitrust Litigation.
