Career
Steven E. Warner chairs the firm’s Industrial Equipment and Manufacturing Practice Group. He joined Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in 1989 and since that time, he has concentrated in the areas of patent application writing, prosecution, and counseling, as well as in rendering validity, patentability, non-infringement and freedom-to-operate opinions, primarily involving the mechanical, electrical and chemical arts. He also has had extensive experience in trademark prosecution and enforcement, and has been involved in various patent litigations, reexaminations, reissues and interferences. Mr. Warner has prepared many patent applications for various clients, including S.C. Johnson & Son, Foster Wheeler, Promega, and Ecological Pallets, and has prosecuted numerous patent applications for Canon and Georgia-Pacific. He has experience in various technologies, including personal care, air care, home cleaning, and home storage devices and products, as well as semiconductor wafer photolithography and circuit pattern alignment, magnetic and magneto-optical recording devices, laser beam recording, ink jet and bubble jet printing, photocopying, photography, thin film transistors, textiles, building products, industrial filtration, fluid dispensing, paper making and paper products, fluidized bed combustion and industrial furnace and boiler technology. Mr. Warner has extensive experience in the prosecution of both U.S. patent applications and international patent applications, including those filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty. Prior to joining Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, Mr. Warner was a Primary Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Warner routinely lectures on intellectual property law matters for professional organizations such as the District of Columbia Bar Association.
