Donald Heckenberg conducts preparation and prosecution of patent applications in chemical, mechanical, and electrical arts. Mr. Heckenberg also handles complex patent prosecution matters, including ex parte and inter partes reexaminations, reissue applications, and appeals to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. In addition, Mr. Heckenberg’s practice includes patent related counseling, such as conducting due diligence investigations, and preparation of opinions on infringement, validity, and enforceability. Some of the technologies Mr. Heckenberg has worked with include polymer compositions, composite material manufacturing, catalysts, chemical and biotechnological processing equipment, dielectric coatings, liquid crystals, image processing, medical devices, and business methods. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Heckenberg was a primary examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined patent applications involving plastic molding and treatment.
