The practice was bolstered in November 2018 by a merger with housing boutique Liles & Rushin, LLC, a deal which saw two partners - Kelly Rushin Lewis and Brandon Hughey - and their team join the firm's new office in Birmingham. Jones Walker LLP's construction practice is co-chaired by Atlanta-based Chad Theriot and New Orleans-based Michael Drew; the duo primarily specialise in high-profile complex litigation. Theriot recently represented Bollinger Shipyards against the City of New York, Department of Environmental Protection concerning costs overrun for a barge construction contract. Supported by highly commended associate William Underwood, Theriot successfully resolved the matter in favor of the client, including securing unprecedented recovery of delay and acceleration damages against the City. In another highlight, Tyler Scarbrough, who was recently made up to partner, together with Theriot and Underwood, acted as lead counsel to voestalpine on the $740m greenfield development of a HBI plant in Texas. The team have also acted for the client in contract disputes against two contractors arising out of the project. Also recommended is Neal Sweeney, who represented an international EPC contractor in litigation against the owner of a $60m windfarm project concerning unpaid balances and change orders; he was supported by associate William Shaughnessy.
