Bob Lemon is a partner in the Maritime Practice Group. Drawing on more than 35 years of experience, he focuses his practice on litigation and transactions, handling all aspects of domestic and international admiralty and maritime law.
Bob’s litigation and transactional practices are focused on the handling of marine collisions and allisions, cargo and charter party disputes, marine insurance disputes, marine pollution, towage, salvage, general average, maritime liens, pipeline ruptures, and US Coast Guard proceedings. He regularly represents shipowners, ship operators and managers, charterers, towboat and barge line owners and operators, terminals, shipyards, cargo owners, hull underwriters, and P&I underwriters.
Bob has a significant transaction practice which includes drafting maritime contracts and providing legal opinions regarding bills of lacing, contracts of affreightment, charter parties, letters of credit, towage agreements, bulk cargo purchase and sale agreements, barge fleeting agreements, terminal agreements and throughput agreements, berth applications and terminal rules, tariffs, midstream mooring facility agreements, master service agreements, dredging contracts, and miscellaneous maritime contracts. He also conducts due diligence and advises on maritime regulations and marine insurance in connection with marine company acquisitions.
An adjunct professor at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law from 1992 to 2005, Bob taught a course titled Law of Marine Insurance.
